Recently, many people in the ceramics industry and ceramic collectors have publicly expressed their condolences to the master of Chinese ceramic art, Mr. Zhang Shouzhi, and cherish the memory of this “encyclopedia-like wise man of Chinese ceramics” and the master of arts and crafts who made significant contributions to the development of daily ceramic design.

As the State Council National Porcelain General Counsel, Professor Zhang Shouzhi, he has served as the national government porcelain design guide for a long time and is an academic leader in the field of life ceramic design. Zhang Shouzhi is a teacher in the Ceramic Design Department of the former Central Academy of Arts and Crafts. Under the guidance of his predecessors, he has been teaching daily ceramic design courses for decades during his teaching. He is implementing professional design, facing daily needs, and connecting with practice. , Has made outstanding contributions in the education policy of combining with production. In 1992, he was awarded the "Outstanding Contributions to Chinese Culture and Art" by the State Council and received special government allowances. In 2007, he was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award in China Ceramic Industry".

Professor Zhang Shouzhixian served as the curator of Beijing Guozhong  Ceramic Art Museum. Over the years, Professor Zhang Shouzhi has worked tirelessly and spared no effort to lead the Beijing Guozhong Ceramic Art Museum to maturity. In the more than 30 theme exhibitions and seminars hosted or organized in the museum, more reminders and busy figures of Professor Zhang Shouzhi on the development of household ceramics have been recorded.

Professor Zhang Shouzhi has always had a pure attitude and love for ceramics for daily use, and he has personally protected China's daily ceramics, and has repeatedly emphasized that daily ceramics should be based on the purpose of "serving the people's lives". In the 2015 National Art Fund Art Talent Training Funding Project "Daily Use Ceramics Design Innovative Young Talent Training" student achievement exhibition and academic seminar, Professor Zhang Shouzhi pointed out that China is an ancient civilization of ceramics, and it is also a country of porcelain invention. In history, our predecessors spread Chinese porcelain, tea, and silk to the world through the Silk Road, and they were mainly living ceramics. Today’s Silk Road is not about some of our ceramic artists visiting the Silk Road for inspection and sightseeing. When we come back, we will use this theme to make two bottles. Zhang Shouzhi believes that the creations of the students of the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute's advanced research class are today's Silk Road, because they are creating the latest life ceramics under the needs of today's lifestyle. The Silk Road is in front of us, and hope lies in our young people.

Professor Zhang Shouzhi said that the state banquet Hua celadon tableware produced by Shandong Huaguang is a new material. The difference between it and traditional celadon has certain advantages in craftsmanship and difficulty. Everyone knows that the invention of Chinese porcelain began with celadon. The origin of celadon was in Zhejiang. The original celadon reached the peak of Longquan celadon from 2000 to the Southern Song and Yuan dynasties. Of course, the celadon in the north and the south has expanded a bit, and the five famous kilns Except for the Ding kiln, it is all celadon. Although the official kiln is not found, it must be in the north. Jun kilns and Ru kilns are still celadon, but copper elements appeared in Jun kilns, and copper glaze elements all over the world appeared, which started in China. But on the whole Jun kiln is still celadon ware, but its firing process is all re-restoration. Southern celadon, including the celadon system of the northern Yaozhou kiln, which is the most difficult to burn, is re-reduction. Therefore, the successful development of Huaguanghua celadon is very important.

In his old age, Professor Zhang Shouzhi still sticks to the forefront of ceramic production. Under the country's strategic policy of independent innovation and development of the brand economy, it guards China's honor as an ancient country of ceramic culture. For this reason, he persistently integrates with production areas and markets, develops and designs new products, improves product quality and cultural content, and works hard to improve people's quality of life. He continues the "unity, truth-seeking, dedication, and dedication" proposed by the Central Academy of Art and Design. The "innovation" context allows the design and production of modern Chinese daily-use porcelain to continue to develop and innovate in the new century.

Professor Zhang Shouzhi devotes his life to the design and development of Chinese daily-use ceramics. Even in the twilight years of his life, he still works courageously and tirelessly, making outstanding contributions to improving the product grade and cultural and artistic content of contemporary Chinese daily-use ceramics.
