Mao Guoqiang (a millet), a master of Arts and crafts in Jiangsu Province, is a senior arts and crafts artist at the researcher level. Lifelong director of China Finger Painting Research Association, member of China Arts and Crafts Society and member of China Folk Artists Association. Visiting Professor, Harbin Normal University.

Born in June 1945 in the pottery family of Southern Street of Shushan, Yixing, he was influenced by art from an early age. In 1958, he entered Yixing Purple Sand Craft Factory under Ren Ganting. In 1987, he came to Henan Calligraphy Research Institute to teach by correspondence, and was instructed by Mr. Chen Natural.

For more than 50 years, he has studied purple sand art and calligraphy and painting art deeply. His works are meaningful, rich and thin, and his basic skills are solid. The pottery carving works are vigorous, magnificent and vivid, and the line knife handling is a combination of magnificence and agility. He has won many awards at home and abroad: the first prize of National Ceramic Creation and Design Competition, the gold prize of West Lake Exposition and the gold prize of Taihu Exposition. His works have been collected and exhibited by Los Angeles Museum of Art, Yatai Museum, Ziguang Pavilion in the Central South China Sea, Tianjin Museum and Palace Museum. They have successively exchanged purple sand works with masters of painting and calligraphy, such as Lu Lishao, Cheng Shifa, Tang Yun, Han Meilin and Fan Zeng, and won their praise. He also participated in the first National Carving Exhibition of China, the 16th International Art Exhibition of China Artistic Association and the National Finger Painting Nomination Exhibition. He has also held individual art exhibitions in Guangzhou Museum of Art, Chaozhou Yangshan Hall and Los Angeles Museum of Art.

 

 

This piece is Mao Guo's compulsory "Jade Music Pot". It is a representative work of the author's many works. It is made of fine mud, conventionally expressed, concise and clear in shape, giving full play to the display pursuit of calligraphy decoration, with full overall shape and exquisite workmanship in details.

At present, Mr. Mao Guoqiang's works have attracted much attention and have a very high collection value and prospects.
