      Artist Biography

      Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts: Mao Zhengcong

      Born in Longquan, Zhejiang Province in 1940, he is a master of Chinese ceramic art, an outstanding contemporary ceramic artist in the world, a representative inheritor of intangible cultural heritage, a former director of Longquan Celadon Research Institute, and a member of the seventh CPPCC of Zhejiang Province. He enjoys special allowance from the State Council in China. Mao Zhengcong has devoted himself to the art for more than 50 years, breaking through the thousand year top secret celadon traditional skills. His works are rich in glaze layer, warm as jade, simple in shape and smooth in lines, showing a heavy and simple artistic style. He has produced more than 1600 pieces of special national ceremonies for President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao, Zhu Rongji and Li Peng. His works are collected by Tower of Violet Light in Zhongnanhai in China, Great Hall of the people in Beijing, National Art Museum of China, as well as president Deng Xiaoping, President Medvedev, Prime Minister Fukuda Yasuo and prime Minister Schroder. Mao Zhengcong also held exhibitions in Japan, Singapore, Taiwan province and Macao.
