Artist Biography

Qiu Gengyu
Born in 1962, he graduated from the Ceramic Art Department of the former Central Academy of Arts and Crafts in 1987, and stayed on as a teacher. Received a doctorate degree from Tsinghua University in 2000. He is currently an associate professor of the Ceramic Art Design Department of the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University, a member of the Chinese Artists Association, a director of the Chinese Traditional Craft Research Association, and the deputy director of the Ceramic Art Center of the China Ceramic Industry Association.
Monograph: "Research on Modern Chinese Folk Ceramics" and "Chinese Handicraft-Ceramic Firing". Scientific research works: "Complete Works of Chinese Traditional Crafts·Ceramics Volume (Continued)" (Associate Editor), "Research on Folk Ceramics of Ethnic Minorities in Western China" (National Social Science Foundation Art Project), "Research on Tibetan Traditional Ceramics Culture" (National Social Science Foundation Art Project).
Participated in the exhibition: the 11th and 12th National Art Exhibition; the 1st and 2nd China Contemporary Ceramic Art Exhibition; the 1st to 4th "Jie·Shang" China Contemporary Ceramic Art Experimental Works Invitation Exhibition; The 1st to 4th International Tea Culture Exchange Exhibition; Korea World Ceramics Biennale.
Pottery works are collected by the Ministry of Culture, National Art Museum of China, Tsinghua University Art Museum, Shandong Provincial Museum, Shiwan Ceramic Museum and other institutions.
