Artist Biography

Xia Dewu
Born in 1957, he is a professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, a member of the Chinese Artists Association, a member of the Chinese Sculpture Society, and the director of the Ceramic Research Institute of the Public Art Academy of the Chinese National Academy of Painting.
In 1991, a solo exhibition of "Painting and Pottery" was held in the National Art Gallery of Malta; in 1996, the ceramic work "Triangle Bottle" was selected into the 80 international traveling exhibitions of modern Chinese pottery, and the work was permanently collected by the Ministry of Culture; in 1998, "Xia Dewu Musical Pottery" The solo exhibition was held at the National Art Museum of China; in 1999, at the invitation of the Bayreuth Art Research Association in Germany, he held a personal oil painting and ceramic art exhibition; in 2001, in the first national art college ceramic art exhibition, the work "Memory Still 》Won the Creative Excellence Award; In 2006, his work was selected for the China-Netherlands Ceramic Artist Exchange Exhibition, held in the Central Academy of Fine Arts Exhibition Hall; in 2011, the work was awarded the Gold Medal for "Inheritance and Protection of Chinese Traditional Culture" by UNESCO; 2014 , Pottery work "Fish" was selected for the 12th National Art Exhibition; in 2015, participated in the "Alumni Sculpture Invitation Exhibition" of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, which was held at the Art Museum of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute; in 2017, "Xia Dewu Ink Painting Exhibition" was held in Taiwan, In the same year, his works were exhibited at the National Academy of Painting.
