Artist Biography

Born in 1932, Professor of the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University (formerly the Central Academy of Art and Design), member of the Chinese Artists Association, and honorary citizen of Longquan.
From 1956 to 1998, he taught at the Ceramic Art Department of the Central Academy of Art and Design. During his more than forty years of teaching, he has done many special studies on Chinese traditional ceramic shapes, purple sand, folk ceramics, and international dishes. He published "Design, Trial Production, and Production of Jianguo Porcelain" and "The Beauty in the Folk-Modern Chinese Folk Ceramics". "The Art of Zisha Pottery" and other papers.
Since 1953, he has participated in porcelain for "Jianguo Porcelain", "Diaoyutai State Guest House", "Great Hall of the People State Banquet Porcelain", 2016 Hangzhou G20 Summit "West Lake Rhyme" tableware, 2017 Beijing first "Belt and Road" summit "Jixian Porcelain", The design and supervision of "Mowen" tableware for bilateral talks at the BRICS Xiamen Summit.
In 2007, he won the "China Ceramics Lifetime Achievement Award" at the Fifth Member Congress of China Ceramic Industry Association; in 2011, he was awarded the "Special Contribution Award for Promoting the Development of China Ceramic Art and Design" by China National Light Industry Association and China Ceramic Industry Association.
He once went to the United States, Australia, Japan, South Korea to give lectures and exchanges, and held work exhibitions. His works are collected by the State Council "Purple Light Pavilion", National Museum, China Art Museum, etc.
