Artist Biography

Ren Xinghang, male, born in Shenge Town, Yuzhou City, Henan Province, college degree, ceramic thermal engineer, representative inheritor of Jun porcelain firing technique of national intangible cultural heritage project.

Ren Xinghang was born in a Jun porcelain family and has been engaged in Jun porcelain production for nearly 40 years. He has served successively as deputy director of Yuzhou Jun porcelain Research Institute, curator of Jun porcelain Kiln Museum, standing director of the National Ancient Ceramics Professional Committee, and major in the five famous kilns of the Chinese National Association. Director of the Art Committee, etc., has made many achievements in the fields of Jun porcelain glaze formulation and firing technology research. Invented and designed double-hole flame-separated tunnel kilns, saggerless Jun porcelain kilns, drawer-type coal and gas mixing Jun porcelain kilns, which were promoted and applied in Yuzhou City and surrounding areas.

In November 2004, the Song Dynasty firewood-fired Jun porcelain kiln was designed and successfully fired. It was awarded the "Special Contribution" Award by the Henan Cultural Heritage Rescue Project Work Committee and the "Henan Province 4th Literary and Art Outstanding Achievement Award".

As the seventh generation descendant of Ren's Jun porcelain family, Ren Xinghang's Jun porcelain works have strong national cultural charm and vivid and agile style of the times. They have won numerous awards at national exhibitions.

In 1997, Ren Xinghang presided over the design and production of the large-scale Jun porcelain vase "Gifts from the Elephant", a gift for the return of Hong Kong in Henan Province, which was awarded by the Henan Provincial Government.

In 2000, he was awarded the title of "National Ancient Ceramic Art Master" by the National Ancient Ceramics Professional Committee.

Ren Xinghang's works have been collected by the Great Hall of the People, the Palace Museum, the National Cultural Heritage Administration, the Chinese National Museum, the National Art Museum of China, and the Bayi Building of the Central Military Commission.

In 2004, in response to the call of superiors to rescue folk cultural heritage, the Jun porcelain kiln museum was established, and the Jun porcelain kilns that had a significant impact in various historical periods were restored, such as: Tang Dynasty matou kiln wood-fired "Tang Jun" kiln, Song Dynasty double-fired wood-fired Jun porcelain kiln, Qing Dynasty charcoal-fired Jun porcelain kiln, modern inverted flame kiln Jun porcelain kiln and direct flame kiln Jun porcelain kiln, and restored their firing process, filling the theoretical circle of Jun porcelain The blank of "jun porcelain craft technology dating". He also made Chai-shao Jun porcelain, a wonderful art that has been lost for nearly a thousand years, reappeared and caused a sensation in the ceramics industry. It was awarded the "Special Contribution Award" by the Henan Folk Cultural Heritage Rescue Project Work Committee and the "Golden Tripod Award·Achievement Award".

In the autumn of 2005, his firewood-fired Jun porcelain work "Sunflower Pot" won the gold medal of the "Central Plains Culture Shanghai Tour·Henan Folk Craft Treasure Exhibition". In 2007, he won the 4th Henan Provincial Literature and Art Outstanding Achievement Award. On April 21, 2011, the work "Banlong Bottle" won the gold medal of China Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo. On May 1, 2011, his work "Ruyi Bottle" won the "Hundred Flowers Award" Gold Award of Chinese Arts and Crafts. In May 2012, his work "Wind and Cloud Mirror" won the gold medal of the "Hundred Flowers Award" of Chinese Arts and Crafts. In recent years, he has published dozens of papers in newspapers and magazines such as "2005 Shanghai International Ancient Ceramics Symposium", "Henan Workers' Daily", "Arts and Crafts", "Xuchang Daily" and other newspapers and magazines. The book was collected by the Henan Provincial Cultural Heritage Rescue Project Work Committee in the "Genmai Book Series" series, published by Zhongyuan Peasant Publishing House in 2008. In 2012, published a collection of prose essays "Imagination of Jun Porcelain". "Jun Porcelain" was published in October 2013. In June 2014, he won the 3rd China Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritor's Salary Award.
